This bill transfers the Office of Defense Affairs from the Department of
Economic Development to the Office of the Governor. This transfer would
move three full-time equivalent positions and $1,343,540 in
appropriations out of the General Revenue Fund for the 2002-03 biennium
from the Department of Economic Development to the Office of the
Governor. Included in these amounts is $1.0 million for Defense Economic
Adjustment Grants for local communities.

The Act calls for the transfer of total program costs, so there should be
no significant fiscal impact to the state.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
