                              March 20, 2001

IN RE: SB1671 by Jackson (Relating to the issuance of bonds by

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is
anticipated.

The language of the bill is permissive. Districts using voter-approved
general obligation bonds for school bus purchases may be able to obtain
less expensive financing than otherwise. However, school districts may
also incur certain costs from the issuance of debt. Because of the
permissive nature of the bill, local school districts will have more
options in how they will finance the purchase of school buses.
