Local Government Impact

The bill would create a county court at law for Aransas County and define
its jurisdiction. The County Court at Law of Aransas County would be
created December 31, 2002, or on an earlier date determined by the
commissioners court.

A representative of the Office of the County Judge in Aransas provided
information as to the expenses involved in creating the new court. The
cost to the county would be $162,619 for salaries and $3,000 for
supplies and training, for a total operating cost of $165,619 per year.
There would be an additional one-time capital outlay of $2,500 for
equipment in the first year.
