         Pursuant to a notice posted on May 13, 2002, the House Committee  
         on Appropriations met in a joint public hearing with the House  
         Committee on Insurance and was called to order by the chair,  
         Representative Junell, at 1:10 p.m. 
          
         Present:  Representatives Junell, West, George "Buddy", Allen,  
                   Delisi, Glaze, Heflin, Maxey, Moreno, Paul, and  
                   Pickett (9). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Coleman, Eiland, Farrar, Flores,  
                   Gallego, Giddings, Gutierrez, Hamric, Hochberg, Janek,  
                   King, Luna, McReynolds, Mowrey, Pitts, Puente, Smith,  
                   Turner (18). 
          
         The following members were present from the House Committee on  
         Insurance:  Representatives Smithee, Lewis, Burnam, Olivo,  
         Moreno, Joe, Thompson, and Seaman (7). 
          
         Testimony was taken.  (See attached witness list.)

         A quorum was present.

         At 5:47 p.m., on the motion of Representative West, George  
         "Buddy" and without objection, the meeting was adjourned  
         subject to the call of the chair.
