         Committee on Appropriations-S/C on Education, Subcommittee on  
         Education, met in a public hearing and was called to order by  
         the chair, Representative Hochberg, at 1:30 p.m. 
          
         Present:  Representatives Hochberg; Delisi; Giddings; Gutierrez;  
                   Mowery (5). 
          
         Absent:   None (0). 
          
         A quorum was present.

         At 3:40 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was recessed until 3:50 p.m., February 7, 2001. 
          
         The committee reconvened at 3:55 p.m. and was called to order by  
         the chair, Representative Hochberg. The roll was answered as  
         follows:
