The changes to house districts would take effect for election of members to the Texas House of Representatives starting with the 78th Legislature. Representative Jones, Delwin moved that HB 150, as substituted, be reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed. Representative Wilson stated that he voted against the bill because in Harris and Dallas counties districts were drawn in a manner which diluted African-American districts to shore up other districts. The Chair moved that Texas Legislative Council staff be authorized to renumber the House districts 1-150 as appropriate. The motion was adopted without objection.
