         Pursuant to a notice posted on March 18, 2002, the House  
         Committee on Corrections met in a public hearing and was called  
         to order by the chair, Representative Haggerty, at 2:00 p.m. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows: 
          
         Present:  Representatives Haggerty; Allen; Ellis, Dan; Gray;  
                   Hodge; Hopson; Isett; Ritter (8). 
          
         Absent:   Representative Farrar (1). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         Testimony was taken on the the trends and status of major  
         correctional policies, safety and training of officers, current  
         correcitonal officer employment numbers and the offender  
         classification system.  (See attached witness list.) 
          
         At 4:25 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
