         Pursuant to a notice posted on April 11, 2001, the House  
         Committee on Economic Development met in a public hearing and  
         was called to order by the chair, Representative Solis, Jim, at  
         6:40 p.m. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows: 
          
         Present:  Representatives Solis, Jim; Clark; Luna, Vilma;  
                   Seaman; Yarbrough (5). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Keffer; Deshotel; Homer; McClendon  
                   (4). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         The chairman stated that the purpose for this meeting was to  
         discuss the current status of the unemployment insurance trust  
         fund and to review certain proposals that the committee had been  
         considering. 
          
         Unemployment Insurance 
          
         Texas Workforce Commission made a presentation to the committee  
         regarding the current status of the Texas Unemployment Insurance  
         Trust Fund and discussed the various options that the committee  
         is considering.
