The House Committee on Economic Development 77th Legislature May 8, 2002 9:00 p.m. Nassau Bay City Hall - Council Chamber Clear Lake, Texas Pursuant to a notice posted on April 30, 2002, the House Committee on Economic Development met in a public hearing and was called to order by the chair, Representative Solis, Jim, at 9:02 a.m. The roll was answered as follows: Present: Representatives Solis, Jim; Keffer; Clark; Deshotel; Homer; McClendon; Seaman (7). Absent: Representatives Luna, Vilma; Yarbrough (2). A quorum was present. Testimony was taken on interim charge 1: Evaluate the attractiveness of Texas for business expansions and relocations, including consideration of the state's history of job creation. Determine which areas of the state have been more successful and which have been less sucessful, and whether additional programs or incentives are needed for some or all areas of the state. If new incentives are recommended, suggest funding sources. (See attached witness list.) (Representative Yarbrough now present.) At 12:00 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection, the meeting was recessed until 2:20 p.m., May 8, 2002. The committee reconvened at 2:20 p.m. and was called to order by the chair, Representative Solis, Jim.
