The House Committee on Higher Education 77th Legislature July 31, 2002 9:00 a.m. Capitol Extension, E2.010 Pursuant to a notice posted on July 16, 2002, the House Committee on Higher Education met in a public hearing and was called to order by the chair, Representative Rangel, at 9:15 a.m. The roll was answered as follows: Present: Representatives Rangel; Brown, Fred; Goolsby; Reyna, Elvira; Uher (5). Absent: Representatives Farabee; Jones, Jesse; Morrison; West, George "Buddy" (4). A quorum was present. Testimony was taken on Interim Charge Three: "Review differences in quality, admissions policies, resources and mission between rural and urban institutions of higher education and between community colleges and four-year institutions. Determine whether such differences warrant different performance measures in areas such as retention and graduate rates, faculty workload and funding formulas." (See attached witness list.)
