         Pursuant to a notice posted on January 10, 2002, the House  
         Committee on State, Federal & International Relations met in a  
         public hearing and was called to order by the chair,  
         Representative Hunter, at 12:44 p.m. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows: 
          
         Present:  Representatives Hunter; Berman; Chavez; Najera;  
                   Raymond (5). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Moreno, Paul; Elkins; Madden; Miller  
                   (4). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         Testimony was taken on the subject of military base realignment  
         and closure.  (See attached witness list.) 
          
         Testimony was taken on the subject of rural tourism.  (See  
         attached witness list.) 
          
         Testimony was taken on the subject of border traffic and  
         security.  (See attached witness list.) 
          
         Chair recognized Senator Shapleigh to give testimony regarding  
         border traffic. 
          
         Testimony was taken on the subject of the Texas Legislative  
         Medal of Honor.  (See attached witness list.) 
          
         Testimony was taken on the subject of the Texas music and music  
         history museum.  (See attached witness list.) 
          
         At 12:44 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
