         Pursuant to a notice posted on September 18, 2002, the House  
         Committee on Public Education, Subcommittee on Teacher Shortage,  
         met jointly with the House Committee on Appropriations in a  
         public hearing and was called to order by the chair,  
         Representative Hochberg, at 10:15 a.m. 
          
         Present:  Representatives Hochberg; Grusendorf; Smith (3). 
          
         Absent:   None (0). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         Testimony was taken.  (See attached witness list.) 
          
         At 1:15 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was recessed until 1:45 p.m., September 23, 2002. 
          
         The committee reconvened at 1:45 p.m. and was called to order by  
         Representative Hochberg.  
          
         Testimony was taken.  (See attached witness list.) 
          
         At 4:01 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
