Pursuant to an announcement from the house floor on May 18,
2001, the House Committee on Public Health met in a formal
meeting and was called to order by the chair, Representative
Gray, at 6:45 p.m.

Absent: Representative Glaze (1).
A quorum was present.

The chair recognized Representative Uresti to explain the
measure.
The chair recognized Representative Uresti to close on the
measure.
The bill was left pending without objection.

The chair laid out SB 1237.
The chair recognized Representative Green to explain the
measure.
Representative Gray offered a complete committee substitute.
The committee substitute failed by the following record vote:
Ayes: Representatives Delisi; Wohlgemuth (2).
Nays: Representatives Gray; Coleman; Capelo;
Longoria; Maxey; Uresti (6).
Present, Not Voting: None (0).
Absent: Representative Glaze (1).
Representative Maxey moved that SB 1237, without amendments, be
reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation
that it do pass and be printed. The motion failed by the
following record vote:
Ayes: Representatives Coleman; Maxey; Wohlgemuth
(3).
Nays: Representatives Gray; Capelo; Delisi; Uresti
(4).
Present, Not Voting: Representative Longoria (1).
Absent: Representative Glaze (1).
At 6:56 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,
the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
