         Pursuant to an announcement from the house floor on April 23,  
         2001, the House Committee on Public Safety met in a formal  
         meeting and was called to order by the chair, Representative  
         Turner, Bob, at 5:44 p.m. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows: 
          
         Present:  Representatives Turner, Bob; Driver; Gutierrez; Isett;  
                   King, Phil (5). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Keel; Berman; Hupp; Villarreal, Mike  
                   (4). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         HB 2204 
          
         The chair laid out HB 2204. 
          
         The chair recognized Representative Gutierrez to explain the  
         measure.  
          
         Representative Turner, Bob offered a complete committee  
         substitute.  
          
         The chair recognized Representative Gutierrez to close on the  
         measure.  
          
         The committee substitute was adopted without objection. 
          
         Representative Driver moved that HB 2204, as substituted, be  
         reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation  
         that it do pass and be printed and be sent to the Committee on  
         Local and Consent Calendars. The motion prevailed by the  
         following record vote:

         The chair directed that the April 2, 2001, minutes for the House  
         Committee on Public Safety be corrected. The corrected minutes

         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
