The House Committee on Public Safety 77th Legislature February 26, 2002 10:00 a.m. Capitol Extension Pursuant to a notice posted on February 5, 2002, the House Committee on Public Safety met in a public hearing and was called to order by the chair, Representative Turner, Bob, at 10:10 a.m. The roll was answered as follows: Present: Representatives Turner, Bob; Berman; Driver; Hupp; King, Phil (5). Absent: Representatives Keel; Gutierrez; Isett; Villarreal, Mike (4). A quorum was present. Chairman Turner read the House Committee on Public Safety's interim charges handed down by Speaker Laney. Chairman Turner laid out Interim Charger number one: Study current laws relating to the possession of weapons, including but not limited to the administration of the concealed handgun laws, and interactions among state, local and federal laws concerning firearms. Make any appropriate recommendations to enhance the efficiency, consistency and clarity of the laws. (Representative Keel now present.) Testimony was taken. (See attached witness list.)
