Pursuant to an announcement from the house floor on May 17,
2001, the House Committee on State Affairs met in a formal
meeting and was called to order by the chair, Representative
Wolens, at 11:58 a.m.
The roll was answered as follows:
Present: Representatives Wolens; Brimer; Counts; Craddick;
Hunter; Jones, Delwin; Longoria; McCall; McClendon;
Merritt (10).
Absent: Representatives Turner, Sylvester; Bailey; Danburg;
Hilbert; Marchant (5).
A quorum was present.

The chair laid out SB 1116.
The bill was left pending without objection.
SB 971
The chair laid out SB 971 as pending business.
Representative Brimer offered a complete committee substitute.
The chair recognized Representative Gallego to explain the
measure.
The committee substitute was adopted without objection.
Representative Longoria moved that SB 971, as substituted, be
reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation
that it do pass and be printed. The motion prevailed by the
following record vote:
Ayes: Representatives Wolens; Brimer; Counts;
Craddick; Hunter; Jones, Delwin; Longoria;
McCall; McClendon; Merritt (10).
Nays: None (0).
Present, Not Voting: None (0).
Absent: Representatives Turner, Sylvester; Bailey;
Danburg; Hilbert; Marchant (5).
At 12:04 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,
the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
