         Pursuant to a notice posted on March 11, 2002, and revised on  
         April 5, 2002, the House Committee on State Affairs met in a  
         public hearing and was called to order by the chair,  
         Representative Wolens, at 10:18 a.m. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows: 
          
         Present:  Representatives Wolens; Brimer; Hunter; Jones, Delwin;  
                   Longoria; McCall (6). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Turner, Sylvester; Bailey; Counts;  
                   Craddick; Danburg; Marchant; McClendon; Merritt (8). 
          
         A quorum was not present.  Testimony was taken on the subjects  
         of customer complaint resolution and broadband deployment in  
         Texas.  (See attached witness list.) 
          
         At 12:35 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was recessed until 12:55 p.m., April 10, 2002. 
          
         The committee reconvened at 12:55 p.m. and was called to order  
         by the chair, Representative Wolens. 
          
         Testimony was taken on the subject of broadband deployment in  
         Texas.  (See attached witness list.)

         At 3:45 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
