MINUTES SENATE COMMITTEE ON ADMINISTRATION Monday, April 9, 2001 4:00 p.m. E1.714 ***** Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Administration was held on Monday, April 9, 2001, in E1.714 ***** MEMBERS PRESENT: MEMBERS ABSENT: Senator David Cain None Senator J. E. Brown Senator Mike Moncrief Senator Steve Ogden Senator Judith Zaffirini ***** The Chair called the meeting to order at 4:07 p.m. There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted: Senator Moncrief moved adoption of the minutes from the previous hearing held on April 2, 2001; without objection, it was so ordered. At 4:08 p.m. Senator Zaffirini assumed the Chair. The Chair laid out HB808 and recognized the Senate sponsor, Senator Cain, to explain the bill. Senator Cain moved that HB808 be reported favorably to the Senate with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed. The motion carried with a record vote of 5 ayes, 0 nay, 0 present not voting, and 0 absent. Senator Cain moved that the bill be recommended for placement on the Local & Uncontested Calendar; without objection, it was so ordered. The following members arrived after the roll was called: Senator Ogden. At 4:10 p.m. Senator Cain resumed the Chair. Chairman Cain asked if there were any questions or comments about any of the bills recommended for the April 11, 2001, Local and Uncontested Calendar. There was discussion. Senator Zaffirini moved that all of the bills on page one of the Local and Uncontested Calendar recommended list be certified with the exception of HB 121, SB 27, SB 193, SB 542, SB 663, and SB 683. SB 542, SB 663, and SB 683 will be held to wait for the House companions. Without objection, it was so ordered. Senator Brown moved that all of the bills on page two of the Local and Uncontested Calendar recommended list be certified with the exception of SB 968 and SB 1115. Without objection, it was so ordered. Senator Moncrief moved that all bills on page three of the Local and Uncontested Calendar recommended list be certified with the exception of SB 1212, which had passed on the Intent Calendar that day. Without objection, it was so ordered. Senator Zaffirini moved that all the bills on page four of the Local and Uncontested Calendar recommended list be certified. Without objection, it was so ordered. There being no further business, at 4:35 p.m. Senator Moncrief moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the Chair.
