                           Senator Judith Zaffirini*****
The Chair called the meeting to order at 4:17 p.m. There being
a quorum present, the following business was transacted:
Senator Zaffirini moved adoption of the minutes from the
previous hearing held on April 23, 2001; without objection, it
         was so ordered.

Chairman Cain asked if there were any questions or comments
about any of the bills recommended for the May 1, 2001, Local
and Uncontested Calendar. There was discussion. Senator
Moncrief moved that all bills on page one of the Local and
Uncontested Calendar recommended list be certified with the
exception of SB 1246, SB 1414, SB 1564, and SB 1718; without
objection, it was so ordered. SB 1414 was removed at the
request of the author and SB 1718 was held to await the House
Bill at the request of the author. Senator Zaffirini moved that
all bills on page two of the Local and Uncontested Calendar
recommended list be certified with the exception of SB 1802 and
HB 477 which had passed on the Senate floor already; without
objection, it was so ordered. Senator Zaffirini moved that all
bills on page three of the Local and Uncontested Calendar
recommended list be certified with the exception of HB 1027
which had been removed from the list; without objection, it was
         so ordered.

There being no further business, at 4:23 p.m. Senator Moncrief
moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of
the Chair. Without objection, it was so ordered.
