         Pursuant to suspension of Senate Rule 11.18, a public hearing of  
         the Senate Committee on Administration was held on Monday, May  
         14, 2001, in the E1.714

         The Chair called the meeting to order at 4:45 p.m.  There being  
         a quorum present, the following business was transacted:  
          
         Senator Moncrief moved adoption of the minutes from the previous  
         hearing held on May 11, 2001; without objection, it was so  
         ordered.   
          
         Chairman Cain asked if there were any questions or comments  
         about any of the bills recommended for the May 17, 2001, Local  
         and Uncontested Calendar.  There was discussion.  Senator  
         Zaffirini moved that all of the bills on page one of the Local  
         and Uncontested Calendar recommended list be certified with the  
         exception of  HB 59, HB 85, HB 178, and HB 266; without  
         objection, it was so ordered.  Senator Moncrief moved that all  
         of the bills on page two of the Local and Uncontested Calendar  
         recommended list be certified with the exception of  HB 323;  
         without objection, it was so ordered. Senator Zaffirini moved  
         that all of the bills on page three of the Local and Uncontested  
         Calendar recommended list be certified; without objection, it  
         was so ordered. Senator Brown moved that all of the bills on  
         page four of the Local and Uncontested Calendar recommended list  
         be certified with the exception of  HB 1107 and HB 1126; without  
         objection, it was so ordered.  Senator Moncrief moved that all  
         of the bills on page five of the Local and Uncontested Calendar  
         recommended list be certified with the exception of  HB 1475 and  
         HB 1640; without objection, it was so ordered.  Senator Brown  
         moved that all of the bills on page six of the Local and  
         Uncontested Calendar recommended list be certified with the  
         exception of HB 1837 and HB 1838 ; without objection, it was so  
  
         ordered. Senator Moncrief moved that all of the bills on page  
         seven of the Local and Uncontested Calendar recommended list be  
         certified with the exception of  HB 2262; without objection, it  
         was so ordered.  Senator Moncrief moved that all of the bills on  
         page eight of the Local and Uncontested Calendar recommended  
         list be certified with the exception of  HB 2439, HB 2575, and  
         HB 2852 ; without objection, it was so ordered.  Senator  
         Zaffirini moved that all of the bills on page nine of the Local  
         and Uncontested Calendar recommended list be certified with the  
         exception of  HB 2888 and HB 3355; without objection, it was so  
         ordered.  Senator Ogden moved that all of the bills on page ten  
         of the Local and Uncontested Calendar recommended list be  
         certified with the exception of  SB 1724; without objection, it  
         was so ordered. 
          
         There being no further business, at 5:08 p.m. Senator Moncrief  
         moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of  
         the chair.  Without objection, it was so ordered.
