The following members arrived after the roll was called: Senator Gallegos Senator Van de Putte Senator Wentworth Senator Lindsay moved that the minutes from the previous meeting be approved. There being no objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair laid out the names of the nominees to the Texas Commission for the Arts. The Chair announced that Idelle Rabin and William Wright, nominees to the Texas Commission for the Arts, would be left pending and that the committee would reschedule their appearance for a future meeting. The Chair recognized Senator Duncan to introduce Bobbe Crawford. The Chair recognized Senator Lucio to introduce Laurie Lozano. The Chair recognized Senator Barrientos to introduce Mary Teeple. The Chair introduced Claudia Ladensohn. The nominees made opening statements and then responded to questions by the members of the Committee. At 1:54 p.m., Senator Lindsay moved to recommend to the full Senate that Bobbe Crawford, Claudia Ladensohn, Laurie Lozano, and Mary Teeple be confirmed to the Texas Commission for the Arts. Senator Van de Putte seconded the motion. The motion carried with a vote of 7 ayes and 0 nays. Senator Wentworth asked to be shown as voting aye. Without objection, the motion carried. The Chair recognized Senator Lindsay who made a statement that Mary Banks had to leave but that she would appear at a hearing in the future. Carroll Maclin made an opening statement and then responded to questions by members of the Committee. At 6:00 p.m., Senator Lindsay moved to recommend to the full Senate that Carroll Maclin be confirmed to the Texas Commission on Human Rights. The nomination of Mary Banks was left pending. There being no further business, at 6:00 p.m. Senator Van de Putte moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the chair.
