         Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule  
         11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Natural  
         Resources was held on Tuesday, January 23, 2001, in the Senate  
         Chamber at Austin, Texas.

         The chair called the meeting to order at 3:02 p.m.  There being  
         a quorum present, the following business was transacted:   
          
         Chairman Brown made welcoming remarks followed by an  
         introduction of the Senate Natural Resources Committee members  
         and staff.  Senator Barrientos made a motion to vote on the  
         adoption of the Rules of the Senate Natural Resources Committee  
         for the 77th Legislative Session.  There being no objections,  
         the vote was counted 5-0 and the rules were adopted. 
          
         There being no further business, at 3:08 p.m. Senator Brown  
         moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of  
         the chair.  Without objection, it was so ordered.
