         Pursuant to a notice posted on January 15, 2002, the Joint  
         Select Committee on Public School Finance met in a public  
         hearing and was called to order by the co-chair, Representative  
         Sadler at 10:35 a.m. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows: 
          
         Present:  Representative Sadler; Caperton, Kent; Davis, Will;  
                   Foster, Craig; Representative Grusendorf;  
                   Representative Hochberg; Senator Ogden; Representative  
                   Oliveira; Senator Shapleigh; Thompson, David (10). 
          
         Absent:   Senator Bivins; Representative Dutton; Olson, Lyndon;  
                   Senator Shapiro; Representative Smith; Stiles, Mark;  
                   Senator Van de Putte; Senator West, Royce (8). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         Testimony was taken.  (See attached witness list.)

         (Stiles, Mark now present.) 
          
         (Representative Smith now present.) 
          
         At 2:00 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was recessed until 2:30 p.m., January 24, 2002. 
          
         The committee reconvened at 2:30 p.m. and was called to order by  
         the chair, Senator Bivins.

         At 4:00 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
