A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to making an appropriation to the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center for the purpose of attaining accreditation of a four-year medical school in El Paso. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: SECTION 1. In addition to other amounts that may be expended for this purpose, the amount of $2 million is appropriated out of the general revenue fund to the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center for the state fiscal biennium beginning September 1, 2003, for the purpose of initiating the actions and processes necessary to attain accreditation of a four-year medical school in El Paso. SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2003, if it receives a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this Act does not receive the vote necessary to take effect on that date, this Act takes effect November 1, 2003.
