H.C.R. No. 8
HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Carly Bender of Dallas has been crowned Preteen Miss
Majorette of Texas 2003, and she will represent the Lone Star State
at the National Baton Twirling Association U.S. Championship at the
University of Notre Dame in July of this year; and
WHEREAS, Miss Bender's unique energy and drive have
distinguished her baton twirling performances in competition and
have helped to earn her the titles Preteen Miss Majorette of Texas
and Southwest Regional Strut and Solo Champion; and
WHEREAS, A student at Highland Park Middle School, this
talented and vivacious young woman is the daughter of proud parents
Carolyn and Gary Bender; in her leisure time, she is actively
involved with the Park Cities National Charity League and enjoys
swimming, tennis, and skiing; and
WHEREAS, Miss Bender has demonstrated exemplary dedication
in achieving this honor, and through her enthusiasm, grace, and
skill she has proven herself a worthy recipient of the Preteen Miss
Majorette of Texas crown; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the 78th Legislature of the State of Texas,
1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Carly Bender on achieving
the title of Preteen Miss Majorette of Texas for 2003 and recognize
July 21-27, 2003, as National Baton Twirling Week; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Miss Bender as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
