HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The year 2003 marks the conclusion of a distinguished career in community economic development for Marvin L. Wynn, who is retiring as president and CEO of the Midland Chamber of Commerce after nearly a decade of dedicated service in that position; and WHEREAS, Mr. Wynn earned a bachelor's degree in accounting and economics from Mississippi College in Clinton, Mississippi, and went on to attend the Economic Development Institute at the University of Oklahoma; in 1971, he was designated a certified economic developer by the American Economic Development Council; and WHEREAS, This esteemed gentleman began his career as the vice president of economic development at the Metropolitan Tulsa Chamber of Commerce, and over the ensuing years he served as the vice president and general manager of Whiteside and Grant Realtors in Tulsa and as the chief operating officer for Wichita/Sedgwick County Partnership for Growth, Inc.; Mr. Wynn assumed his current post in June of 1994, and he has since won the respect and admiration of his fellow citizens for his vision and dedication; and WHEREAS, A natural leader, Mr. Wynn has served as the director or president of the Kansas Industrial Developers Association, the Southern Economic Development Council, the Texas Association of Business and Chambers of Commerce, the Texas Chamber of Commerce Executives Association, and the United Way of Midland; and WHEREAS, In all that he does, Mr. Wynn is supported by his talented and lovely wife, Susan Gish Wynn, who has also been a stellar addition to the Midland and West Texas community; and WHEREAS, Marvin Wynn has contributed greatly toward the advancement of the Midland community and the State of Texas, and it is a pleasure to honor him for his outstanding efforts in behalf of the people of the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the 78th Legislature of the State of Texas, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Marvin L. Wynn on his retirement from the Midland Chamber of Commerce and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Wynn as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
