R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The retirement of Myra L. Rachell on June 30, 2003, from employment with the United States District Court, Eastern District of Texas, brings to a close an outstanding career with the federal government that has spanned more than four decades; and WHEREAS, A native Texan, she was born on April 19, 1944, in Tyler, was raised in Arp and graduated from high school in New London; and WHEREAS, Ms. Rachell began her tenure with the federal government on December 17, 1962, when she accepted a position with the clerk's office in the United States District Courthouse in Tyler; since May 1987, she has ably served the Honorable William M. Steger as courtroom deputy, the position from which she is retiring; and WHEREAS, This lovely lady is blessed with a rich family life, and she greatly enjoys spending time with her loved ones, including her children, Stephen and Dana Barton, her daughter-in-law, Shonda Barton, her grandchildren, Ashley, Kristin, Mackenzie, and Tori, her mother, Lucille Lipscomb, her sister, Alice Lipscomb, her brother, John Lipscomb, her sister-in-law, Liz Lipscomb, and their daughters, Elaine and Beth; and WHEREAS, Myra Rachell has served with integrity and dedication throughout her career and earned the lasting respect of all who have been privileged to work with her, and it is a pleasure to recognize her as she embarks on this exciting new chapter in her life; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Myra L. Rachell for her notable career with the United States District Court, Eastern District of Texas, and extend to her best wishes for a very happy and fulfilling retirement; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Rachell as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
