R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Jerry Branch was honored as Sharpstown Citizen of
the Year on June 18, 2003, by the Greater Southwest Houston Chamber
of Commerce; and
WHEREAS, A member of the Sharpstown Civic Association for the
past four years, Mr. Branch has helped to make Sharpstown a better
place in which to work, live, and raise a family through his
involvement with the association as well as a number of other
worthwhile groups; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Branch is the founder of the Sharpstown Nature
Club and has invited nationally recognized naturalists,
photographers, authors, and environmentalists to address the
group; in addition, this innovative gentleman began a plant swap
program, chaired the Trees for Sharpstown effort, which resulted in
Trees for Houston planting more than 200 trees in the community, and
he has also gained support among local residents for establishing
more purple martin houses in the area; and
WHEREAS, Through his many good works, Jerry Branch has
demonstrated great dedication to the people of his community, and
his selfless service is a source of inspiration to all who know him;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Jerry Branch
on being named Sharpstown Citizen of the Year and extend to him
sincere best wishes for continued success with all of his future
endeavors; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Branch as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
