H.R. No. 10
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Reverend Dr. L. A. Crenshaw is marking an
important milestone in 2003 as he commemorates 50 years of
exemplary service at Palestine Baptist Church in San Antonio; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Crenshaw, who was called to the ministry at
the age of 18 and began pastoring at the age of 21, shepherded
congregants at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, Shiloh Baptist Church,
and Sweet Home Baptist Church before coming to Palestine Baptist
Church in 1953; and
WHEREAS, Now the senior pastor of the church, this esteemed
gentleman holds degrees from Conroe College and Mary Allen College
and completed his doctor of divinity degree at American Bible
College; and
WHEREAS, In addition to meeting the spiritual needs of his
congregation, Reverend Crenshaw has served as chaplain of the
Carter-Taylor-Williams Mortuary, secretary of the Guadalupe
District Association, and treasurer of the Baptist Ministers
Association; and
WHEREAS, After a half-century of sterling leadership,
Reverend Crenshaw may take great pride in the knowledge that his
tenure at Palestine Baptist Church has positively touched the lives
of generations of San Antonio residents; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby honor the Reverend Dr. L.
A. Crenshaw for his 50 years of commitment to Palestine Baptist
Church and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success
and happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Reverend Crenshaw as an expression of high regard by
the Texas House of Representatives.
