R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, John and Joy Ann Butts of Midland marked a special milestone in their lives together on June 14, 2003, when they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a family gathering; and WHEREAS, United in matrimony on June 14, 1953, at Greenwood Baptist Church, Mr. and Mrs. Butts have been blessed with three children, Bob, Richard, and Lisa; over the years, they have proudly watched their family grow to include four grandchildren; and WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Butts have been active members of the local business community as the owners of Signal Service Television and Radio Repair from 1956 to 1998; Mrs. Butts has further participated in the Midland Rose Society and played an instrumental role in establishing a public rose garden in the community; an active writer of poetry and prose as well, she has been published in numerous literary sources, including From Hide and Horn, A Sesquicentennial Anthology of Texas Poets; and WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Butts have nurtured a strong bond of love for five decades, filling each other's lives with many happy times and cherished family memories, and it is a privilege to honor them for all they have accomplished in their life together; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate John and Joy Butts on the joyous occasion of their golden wedding anniversary and extend to them best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Butts as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
