R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Erika Espinosa of Edinburg was among the 17
finalists in McAllen's 2003 Senorita Cinco de Mayo beauty and
talent contest, a significant accomplishment deserving of high
praise; and
WHEREAS, An annual event sponsored by the Mexican Consulate,
the Senorita Cinco de Mayo competition recognizes young ladies who
demonstrate extensive knowledge of Mexican history as well as
exceptional poise, beauty, and elocution; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Espinosa, the daughter of proud parents Ruth and
Eduardo Miguel Espinosa, is a junior at Edinburg North High School;
she was cited for her personality, preparation, enthusiasm, and
beauty, and she will undoubtedly use this positive experience to
her benefit in future endeavors; and
WHEREAS, A source of tremendous pride to her family, her
school, and her community, Ms. Espinosa is an exemplary young Texan
with unlimited potential, and she truly deserves special
legislative commendation; and
WHEREAS, Representative Aaron Pena has justly recognized Ms.
Espinosa by passing this honorary resolution in her behalf during
the 78th legislative session; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Erika
Espinosa on her selection as a finalist in the 2003 Senorita Cinco
de Mayo beauty and talent contest and extend to her sincere best
wishes for future success and happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Espinosa as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
