R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Pepe Saldana has worked for many years to create a brighter future for people throughout his community, and his significant accomplishments in this regard merit special recognition; and WHEREAS, A member of the Texas Migrant Council for 20 years, Mr. Saldana also maintains a longtime affiliation with the VFW; he has served as a precinct chair in Hidalgo County for 25 years and has assisted in voter registration and other important community initiatives; and WHEREAS, He marched with famed activist Cesar Chavez on numerous occasions from 1965 to 1980, and in 2002 Mr. Saldana again took to the road to participate in the 125-mile "Walk Across Texas Walk Out on Drugs"; and WHEREAS, This exemplary Texan's many achievements are a source of tremendous pride to his wife, Ermina, and to their children, Marlene, Hugo, and Laura; and WHEREAS, Representative Aaron Pena has justly recognized Mr. Saldana by passing this resolution in his behalf during the 78th legislative session; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Pepe Saldana for his many notable contributions to his fellowman and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Saldana as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
