R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The University of Texas Health Science Center at
Houston Medical School has conferred on Jackson Griggs the degree
of doctor of medicine, and he may look with anticipation to a future
bright with promise; and
WHEREAS, An Abilene native, Dr. Griggs graduated magna cum
laude from Abilene Christian University and earned the Sherrod
Award for his overall contributions to the university and high
scholastic standards as an undergraduate; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his tenure in medical school, Dr. Griggs
has continued to demonstrate his dedication to his community
through his many volunteer activities, including his work with the
San Jacinto YMCA, Christian Medical and Dental Society, and
H.O.M.E.S. Homeless Clinic; and
WHEREAS, This remarkable young man was selected in May 2003
to receive the Dr. Henry W. Withers Memorial Award in Family
Practice in recognition of his exemplary performance as a medical
student; this prestigious award is given annually to a graduating
senior who plans to pursue a career in family practice; and
WHEREAS, An individual of faith, intelligence, and
integrity, Jackson Griggs will undoubtedly excel in his chosen
profession, and it is a pleasure to commend him on his
accomplishments and to wish him well in his endeavors; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Jackson
Griggs on his graduation from The University of Texas Health
Science Center at Houston Medical School and his well-deserved
receipt of the Dr. Henry W. Withers Memorial Award in Family
Practice; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Dr. Griggs as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
