R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Rice Owls first baseman Vincent Sinisi was chosen by
the Texas Rangers as the 46th overall draft choice in the 2003 Major
League Baseball draft after achieving notable success as a member
of the 2003 College World Series championship team; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the 2003 season, Mr. Sinisi lit up the
diamond with exceptional plays, putting out 616 baserunners while
notching 38 assists and 51 double plays; a .338 hitter, he collected
97 hits and 10 homers, scored 61 runs, knocked in another 59, and
stole 11 bases; and
WHEREAS, One of the major contributors to his team's success
at the College World Series, Mr. Sinisi will undoubtedly continue
to be a source of tremendous pride to the Lone Star State as a member
of the Texas Rangers, and as he enters the major leagues, it is most
fitting that he be recognized for his accomplishments in collegiate
baseball at Rice University; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Vincent Sinisi for
his exemplary athletic achievements and extend to him best wishes
for continued success in professional baseball; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Sinisi as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
