R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, July 24, 2003, is a noteworthy event in the marriage
of Jim and Mary Hargrave of Bulverde, for it marks their 50th
wedding anniversary; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Hargrave and the former Mary Thompson were wed
on the bride's 19th birthday in 1953 in the backyard of her parents'
home in San Antonio; throughout the ensuing years, the Hargraves
have enjoyed a warm and fulfilling relationship that has been made
even richer with the expansion of their family to include their
children, Alan, Dalan, Caroline, and Phyllis, and grandchildren,
Alison, Lindy, Chelsea, Andrew, Whitney, Nicole, and Jason; and
WHEREAS, After serving three years in the United States Air
Force, Mr. Hargrave was employed with the United States Civil
Service for 31 years, and during the latter part of his successful
career, he fulfilled a lifelong goal by completing his college
education; Mrs. Hargrave was the salutatorian of her high school
class and she has been a devoted homemaker throughout the couple's
marriage; and
WHEREAS, Since their nuptials, Mr. and Mrs. Hargrave have
shared the trials and triumphs of five decades; they are being
honored by family and friends on July 19, 2003, and it is a pleasure
to join their loved ones in celebrating their enduring union; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Jim and Mary
Hargrave on the joyous occasion of their golden wedding anniversary
and extend to them sincere best wishes for happiness as they
continue their journey together; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the Hargraves as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
