R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The passing of the Reverend W. W. Lowrie on July 1, 2003, at the age of 93, has brought a tremendous loss to the family, friends, and congregants of this esteemed gentleman; and WHEREAS, A native Texan, Reverend Lowrie was born in Buffalo Gap on July 16, 1909; he married Cora Lee Rohde on April 29, 1935, in Yoakum, and the couple enjoyed a rich and rewarding marriage; and WHEREAS, In 1934, Reverend Lowrie was ordained by the Assemblies of God church, and over the ensuing 69 years, he led worship services in 22 different churches in Louisiana and Texas; and WHEREAS, Reverend Lowrie was a man of integrity, dedication, and strong faith, and while he will be greatly missed, his memory lives on in the hearts and minds of the many people whose lives he touched; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of the Reverend W. W. Lowrie and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife of 68 years, Cora Lee Lowrie; to his sons and daughters-in-law, Cecil Lowrie and his wife, Evelyn, Glynn Lowrie and his wife, Kathy, and Ladd Vien and his wife, Leky; to Kay Bunmungmee; to his son-in-law, Jim Maddox; to his grandchildren, Scott Lowrie, Kim Lowrie, Camille Lowrie Horton, Rachel Maddox, Joel Maddox, Rebekah Maddox, Jennifer Lowrie, Christina Vien, and Amanda Vien; to his two great-grandchildren; and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of the Reverend W. W. Lowrie.
