R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Tim and Janice Charles have committed themselves to making Denton a better place in which to live, work, and raise a family, and for their years of service to the people of the community, they are truly worthy to be called Honorary Texans; and WHEREAS, Well-known as vital and valued residents of their adopted hometown, they have given freely of their time and talents to a number of worthwhile causes; and WHEREAS, Former CEO of Denton Community Hospital, Mr. Charles has been actively involved in numerous civic organizations, serving on the boards of directors for the United Way, the Chamber of Commerce, Ann's Haven Hospice, and the Healthy Communities Coalition of Denton County; in addition, this admirable gentleman has worked with the Denton Independent School Board Task Force and was appointed to the City Bond Election Committee by the mayor; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Charles currently serves on the boards of directors for the Denton Benefit League, the Denton Community Theater, the Greater Denton Arts Guild, and the United Way; a former member of the boards of the Arts and Jazz Festival Foundation, Denton Holiday Festival Association, and the Greater Denton Arts Council, she is also involved with the Denton High School Parent Teacher Association, the DHS Backstage Boosters, and the DHS Tennis Team Sponsor; and WHEREAS, Though they were not born in the Lone Star State, Tim and Janice Charles have made many lasting contributions to their Texas community, and they are truly deserving of special recognition; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby declare Tim and Janice Charles to be Honorary Texans and commend them for their generous service in behalf of the residents of Denton County; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the couple as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
