H.R. No. 94
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Federation of Asian Voters in Houston will mark
its 10-year anniversary on July 18, 2003, by welcoming a very
distinguished guest in Mr. Truong Dinh Nguyen; and
WHEREAS, This individual--who sought and secured refuge from
Communist Vietnam not only for himself and his family, but for
countless others as well--became a citizen of the United States and
has given freely of his time and resources for the betterment of
society, including a response to international need by the donation
of 10 helicopters to disaster relief efforts in Africa and
substantial individual contributions to the local American Red
Cross chapter in New York after the terrorist attacks of September
11, 2001; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Truong Dinh Nguyen is a respected business and
philanthropic leader whose generous efforts are an encouragement to
others to get involved and improve their communities, and he serves
as a much-needed model for civic pride and love of freedom; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby honor and congratulate Mr.
Truong Dinh Nguyen for his business leadership, community
involvement, and philanthropic endeavors and for serving as an
example to others in the community; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Truong Dinh Nguyen as an expression of high regard
by the Texas House of Representatives.
