R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Genevieve Tarlton Hearon has been presented the 2003
Frank M. Adams Outstanding Volunteer Award by the Texas Council of
Mental Health and Mental Retardation Community Centers; and
WHEREAS, A longtime advocate for people with mental
disabilities, Mrs. Hearon led the formation of the Texas Alliance
for the Mentally Ill and the Austin Alliance for the Mentally Ill;
she also is the founder and president of Capacity for Justice, an
organization that works to ensure fair judicial treatment of
criminal offenders with mental disabilities; and
WHEREAS, The hard work and dedication of Mrs. Hearon in
behalf of her fellow Texans are truly commendable, and it is most
appropriate to pay special tribute to this outstanding Texan at
this time; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Genevieve
Tarlton Hearon on her receipt of the 2003 Frank M. Adams Outstanding
Volunteer Award and extend to her best wishes for continued success
and happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mrs. Hearon as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
