R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is pleased to honor Don Day of McKinney for the many significant contributions he has made to his community; and WHEREAS, Mr. Day is the general partner and principal owner of DFA, Ltd., a family limited partnership he formed with his three children for the purpose of purchasing and renovating historic properties; since moving to McKinney in 1996, the organization has remained committed to its mission of revitalization by returning 14 buildings in the downtown area to their original condition; and WHEREAS, Its many accomplishments have brought DFA well-deserved acclaim, and it has twice received the city's annual award for Best Preservation of Commercial Historic Buildings for the restoration of the Collin County Prison, built in 1880, and the Commercial Hotel Annex, built in 1909; and WHEREAS, Mr. Day is a graduate of the University of North Texas in Denton and has 38 years of contracting and development experience; active in civic affairs, he has served on the McKinney Planning and Zoning Commission, the McKinney Housing Opportunities Board, the McKinney Housing Authority, the McKinney Thoroughfare Committee, and the McKinney Bond Election Executive Committee; and WHEREAS, During the course of his notable work, Mr. Day has striven to preserve McKinney's rich historical legacy while helping to create a vibrant and adaptable community for future generations of the area's residents, and his talent, enthusiasm, and compassion have earned him the admiration and respect of countless individuals, families, and organizations; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Don Day for his outstanding efforts to revitalize downtown McKinney and extend to him best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Day as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
