H.R. No. 118


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, For nearly a decade, businesswoman and civic leader Linda McNeff has played an instrumental role in the development and promotion of businesses in the historic downtown area of McKinney, and her enduring commitment to volunteerism and community service is indeed deserving of special praise and recognition; and WHEREAS, Ms. McNeff purchased her first building in downtown McKinney in 1994, and soon thereafter opened Arabella's, a gift and clothing boutique that has since expanded to additional locations in McKinney, Frisco, and Dallas; an active member of the Downtown McKinney Association (DMA), she has held the offices of DMA president, secretary, and board member over the years; and WHEREAS, This energetic Texan has also given generously of her time and resources to such notable organizations as the McKinney Chamber of Commerce and the Cultural Arts Alliance of McKinney, as well as to many other associations that work to preserve the historic downtown area and to expand business opportunities for local retailers and entrepreneurs; in recent years she has been recognized by the Texas Festival and Events Association for her successful efforts in creating, promoting, and coordinating community events, including Wild West Fest, Taste of Collin County, and the McKinney Art and Jazz festival, all of which have proven to be wildly popular among residents and visitors alike; and WHEREAS, Through her hard work, enthusiasm, and business acumen, Ms. McNeff has contributed to the growth of her town as a thriving tourist destination, and it is a pleasure to join with the residents of McKinney in paying tribute to her many years of outstanding community service; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Linda McNeff on her significant contributions to the city of McKinney and extend to her best wishes for success and happiness in all her future endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. McNeff as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
