R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Coach Don Tullos will be inducted into the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame in November 2003, and this honor provides a fitting opportunity to reflect on his many achievements; and WHEREAS, A member of the coaching community for 35 years, he began his storied career at Latexo and the following year moved on to Slocum, where he coached both boys' and girls' teams; Coach Tullos next took his considerable talents to Grapeland, and during his 11 years with that school, he guided the Sandiettes to three UIL state tournaments; and WHEREAS, This remarkable coach devoted the past 15 years to building the Lovelady Lady Lions into a consistent winner, and at the time of his retirement in May 2003, he had a career winning total of 1,022 victories; and WHEREAS, Don Tullos has created a legacy of coaching excellence that is an inspiration to all those in his profession, and it is truly appropriate that he receive special legislative recognition for his achievements; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Coach Don Tullos on his induction into the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success in all his endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Coach Tullos as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
