R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Westwood High School in Austin has been selected by
Newsweek magazine as one of the top 100 high schools in the United
States, and this prestigious honor is a source of great pride to the
students, staff, faculty, administrators, and parents who have
helped the school to achieve this remarkable standing; and
WHEREAS, The magazine's rating system identified the average
number of advanced placement or international baccalaureate tests
taken per senior at each school, and the final tally placed Westwood
High School at number 60 nationwide; and
WHEREAS, In addition to its Newsweek ranking, Westwood High
School has been awarded "exemplary" status by the Texas Education
Agency for six consecutive years; and
WHEREAS, All those associated with this outstanding school
are united in their commitment to providing their students with the
finest education possible, and their noteworthy efforts have indeed
given Westwood students a strong foundation on which to build; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate the students,
staff, faculty, and administration of Westwood High School on their
school's top 100 national ranking by Newsweek magazine and extend
to them sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Westwood High School as an expression of high regard by
the Texas House of Representatives.
