R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Pittsburg Gazette received three awards at the
June 2003 Texas Press Association convention, and this recognition
is truly well deserved; and
WHEREAS, Competing with newspapers of similar circulation
from across the state, the Gazette took fourth place in the
editorial, page design, and column writing areas; and
WHEREAS, The publication's editorials submitted for
consideration were "What's right for the county?" penned by
publisher Debbie Knox, and "Say 'yes' to college" by editor Susan
Taft, while Betty Marshall and Syble French earned accolades for
their efforts in page design and column writing, respectively; and
WHEREAS, Newspapers are vital to the development of an
informed citizenry, and all those associated with the Pittsburg
Gazette have made lasting and invaluable contributions to the
community they so ably serve; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate the staff of
the Pittsburg Gazette on their receipt of three awards from the
Texas Press Association and extend to them best wishes for
continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the Pittsburg Gazette as an expression of high regard
by the Texas House of Representatives.
