H.R. No. 136R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, The retirement of Yvonne Rhodes from the Big Sandy Independent School District brings to a close the impressive career of an esteemed educator; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Rhodes instructed students at Pharr for a year and at Donna for three years, but having driven through Big Sandy many times on the way to Tennessee, she and her husband decided the pleasant town would be a good place to live; and WHEREAS, Teaching first grade in the Big Sandy ISD for 27 years, Mrs. Rhodes has laid the foundation of learning for hundreds of young Texans; she has derived great joy from watching young people learn to read and write and has served as a good role model for those close to her, inspiring several members of her own family to become educators; and WHEREAS, Throughout her career, Mrs. Rhodes has distinguished herself as a teacher of immense ability and commitment, and it is indeed appropriate to pay tribute to her for her devoted service; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby honor Yvonne Rhodes on the occasion of her retirement and extend to her best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mrs. Rhodes as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
