                                                                  H.R. No. 145



R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, On July 11, 2003, Jennifer Castillo of Donna 
celebrated the arrival of her 15th birthday among some 200 family 
and friends at her quinceañera, which was held at KC Hall in 
Mercedes; and
	WHEREAS, Derived from the Spanish words "quince" and "años," 
meaning "15" and "years," the quinceañera is a traditional 
celebration in Latin cultures that denotes a young woman's passage 
into adulthood; this custom is thought to date back as far as the 
1500s, and yet it remains a meaningful and memorable event in a 
young woman's life to this day; and
	WHEREAS, A junior at Donna High School, Ms. Castillo is the 
beloved daughter of Pilo and Maggie Castillo; she is also an 
accomplished athlete who enjoys cheerleading and playing 
basketball; and
	WHEREAS, This outstanding young woman has begun a new and 
exciting chapter in her life, and it is a privilege to join her 
family and friends in congratulating her on this special event; 
now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas 
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Jennifer 
Castillo on the joyous occasion of her quinceañera and extend to her 
sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it 
further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Ms. Castillo as an expression of high regard by the 
Texas House of Representatives.
