R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Chris Stroud of Lamar University has demonstrated
excellence throughout his collegiate athletic career, establishing
himself as one of the finest golfers in the history of his
university, and he is indeed poised for continued success; and
WHEREAS, A graduate of Port Neches-Groves High School, where
as a senior he was ranked among the country's top 50 high school
golfers, Mr. Stroud exhibits excellence both on and off the golf
course; and
WHEREAS, His strong mental approach and trademark
consistency contributed to his third-place finish at the 2003 NCAA
Championships in Stillwater, Oklahoma, the best-ever finish for a
Lamar University golfer; and
WHEREAS, A three-time Southland Conference player of the
year, Mr. Stroud completed his junior season with a remarkable
71.63 scoring average and earned a place on the 2003 Ping
All-America third team; and
WHEREAS, The future is bright for this talented and dedicated
young man, and it is a pleasure to congratulate him on his recent
accomplishments and to wish him well in all his endeavors; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby honor Chris Stroud for his
many achievements in the sport of golf and extend to him best wishes
for continued happiness and success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Stroud as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
