H.R. No. 163


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The summer of 2003 has proven to be a memorable one for Roger Hulsey and the entire Hulsey family, with the grand opening of River Hill Bar-B-Que on August 9; and WHEREAS, The opening of this establishment represents the realization of a long-term dream of Mr. Hulsey and the many others who have encouraged him throughout the years to turn this dream into reality; and WHEREAS, This distinguished husband, father, grandfather, Air Force veteran, and native Texan refined his natural talent for special recipes and blends made from scratch into a popular pastime amongst his friends, family, and coworkers, earning him the affectionate and respected moniker of "The Pit Master" and making him the creator of many fine culinary treats, the most prized of which is his Pit Master Bar-B-Que Sauce; and WHEREAS, Roger Hulsey has displayed the unique character of following and cultivating a dream of opening his own restaurant throughout his years on the line and up through the ranks with Anderson Hickey/Hayworth Industries, retiring with 27 years of service after attaining the position of plant manager; and WHEREAS, He built this dream much like he carefully designed and built the pits that helped him gain his fame; first "BERTHA," and then "BJ" for Bertha Junior, a pit on wheels, and now "BEWLEY MAE," the pit that proudly adorns his new restaurant near his home in Carthage, Texas; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the Texas Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby honor, congratulate, and extend best wishes to Mr. Roger Hulsey and his family--including his wife, Juanita, and his children, Mark, David, Kevin, Christopher, and Amber--upon the occasion of the opening of River Hill Bar-B-Que; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the Hulsey family as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
