H.R. No. 165
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Federation of Asian Voters in Houston marked its
10–year anniversary on July 18, 2003 by welcoming a very
distinguished guest in Mr. Tran Dinh Truong; and
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Truong and their family--who sought and
secured refuge from Communist Vietnam not only for themselves, but
for over 8,300 others as well--became citizens of the United States
and have given freely of their time and resources for the betterment
of society, including a response to international need by the
donation of two helicopters to disaster relief efforts in Africa
and a contribution of $2 million to the local American Red Cross
chapter in New York after the terrorist attacks of September 11,
2001; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Tran Dinh Truong is a respected business and
philanthropic leader whose generous efforts are an encouragement to
others to get involved and improve their communities, and he serves
as a much-needed model for civic pride and love of freedom; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the Texas
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby honor and congratulate
Mr. and Mrs. Tran Dinh Truong and family for their business
leadership, community involvement, philanthropic endeavors, and
for serving as an example to others in the community; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Tran Dinh Truong and family as an
expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
