H.R. No. 180
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, On July 13, 2003, men and women from across the Lone
Star State gathered in Lubbock to pay tribute to the ideals and
goals of the American Legion, Sons of the Legion, and American
Legion Auxiliary for the Department of Texas; those in attendance
also recognized two outstanding representatives of Post 75 in
Mineral Wells, Bob Walls and Lynda Horton-Turk, by electing them to
the highest offices in the state, department commander of the
American Legion and department president of the American Legion
Auxiliary; and
WHEREAS, This is a fitting honor for two Texans who have given
so generously of their time, energy, and resources to further the
aims of the American Legion and its affiliated organizations; Mr.
Walls and Ms. Horton-Turk champion the cherished principles of
freedom and democracy that serve as the bedrock of this nation's
constitutional form of government, and over the years they have
worked tirelessly to provide assistance to veterans and their
families; and
WHEREAS, Demonstrating faith, loyalty, and dedication in
every facet of their lives, these exemplary individuals are an
inspiration to all those who have the privilege of knowing them; in
their honor, American Legion Post 75 of Mineral Wells has declared
July 28, 2003, to be "Department Commander Bob Walls and Department
President Lynda Horton-Turk Day," and the citizens of Texas are
proud to join with the residents of Mineral Wells in saluting these
patriotic Americans for the countless contributions they have made
in the service of their community, state, and nation; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Bob Walls and Lynda
Horton-Turk on their election to the top offices of the American
Legion and American Legion Auxiliary for the Department of Texas
and extend to them best wishes for continued success and happiness;
and, be it further
RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared
for Mr. Walls and Ms. Horton-Turk as an expression of high regard by
the Texas House of Representatives.
